Norton Blaze+ is the right belt when you have material to remove and the priority is speed — solid oak, thick wear layers, full strip jobs.
3M Regalite is the right belt when you need to feel what the machine is doing pass to pass — engineered hardwood with thin wear layers, prefinished surfaces where the UV coat is hard and unpredictable, any situation where overcut is a real risk.
On a 1.6–2mm wear layer with 0.3–0.5mm of safe margin, predictable cut rate over belt life is worth the higher belt cost. You use fewer belts per job anyway because Regalite lasts longer.
Bottom line: Solid wood full refinish → Norton Blaze+. Engineered hardwood, thin wear layer, prefinished → 3M Regalite. If in doubt on an engineered job: Regalite, every time.
